Sophie Saul — Artist Biography

Sophie Saul (b. 1996, Krasnoyarsk, Russia) is a Russian artist based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She spent her childhood between Siberia and Moscow, where exposure to artistic traditions and a fascination with the vast, untamed forests of the taiga shaped her early sensibilities.

After graduating from the University of London with a degree in Mathematics, Sophie pursued an academic career as a university lecturer and researcher. In 2022, driven by a desire to follow her true calling, she committed herself fully to painting and enrolled in the Drawing and Painting programme at the Florence Academy of Art, from which she graduated in 2025.

Her multidisciplinary background informs an artistic practice shaped by an interest in philosophy, storytelling, and the complexities of human experience. Bringing together analytical rigour and a sensitivity to the poetic dimensions of life, Sophie approaches painting with intellectual curiosity, perseverance, and a deep commitment to her craft.
